The Spray or airbrush technique were originally used for colouring illustrations, decorative elements, models and industrial pieces. Since 1917, Man Ray used it differently. He borrowed the technique to spray his compositions: "The result was surprising. There was a photographic quality, although my subjects were rather abstract... It is amazing to paint without having any contact with the canvas. It is a pure cerebral act, so to speak." (Man Ray, Self Portrait, 1963).
The airbrush proved its worth.
In spite of a common technique, the compositions of Crystel Ceresa, Stéphane Ducret, Thierry Feuz and Daniel Orson Ybarra remain individual and idiosyncratic, having each a universe of its own.
