Nicolay Kopeïkin

Nikolay Kopejkin was born in 1966 in St. Petersburg where he continues to live and pursue his artistic career to this day. He paints in a crude manner that is influenced by just about anything you can think of from French Fauvists to editorial cartoons to German expressionism, masterfully mocking everything from everyday Russian life to international affairs. Do not be fooled by his almost naïve approach: he possesses an ideological punch, emphasizing the idea that content is more important than form.

Nikolay Kopejkin is also a filmmaker and has participated in and won several national and international film festival awards (Moscow KF 'Styk', Rotterdam International Film Festival, Kinoshock-2008). He is also the founder of the studio NOMFILM where, in cooperation with A. Kagadeevym they have been making short films such as "Apiary", "Geopolipy", "Belaruskaya true story" and "Fantomas removes the mask".

Since 1999 he has been working with the musical team NOM, one of the most popular "joke rock" acts in Russia who possess a genuine cult underground status. N. Kopejkin is also one of the founders of the creative association "Art sect" KOLHUI.
