Mikail Gavritchkov was born in Leningrad in 1963. In 1987 he graduated from Repin’s Institute as a graphic artist. He has been a member of the Art Union of Russia since 1991. In addition to 30 personal exhibitions, Gavritchkov has participated in more than 200 group shows in Russia and abroad. His works are included in the collections of the State Hermitage Museum and the Cambridge University Library (Boston, USA) as well as in private collections in Italy, Germany, Great Britain and the United States. Mikail works as book illustrator.
He has designed more than 60 books, including “Hofmann’s novels”, “Peter Penn” and “Golden bug”. In 2003 he won the Grand Prix in the International Ex Libris Competition. In 2013 he created a series of illustrations for the 4-volume edition of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “Sherlock Holmes”. In 2014 he illustrated Dostoyevsky’s “Demons”. Michail is an active member of Art Group “Sorcery Artists”.
