Asia Now Paris 2019 - Booth B217

For it's second participation in Asia Now, Artvera’s is pleased to present the first solo show in Europe of korean artist You Hyeonkyeong.

In almost every piece of You Hyeonkyeong appears a person. The exact identity of the model is unclear, the only explanation lies in the title. You tries to capture the attitude or demeanor of the human subject vis-à-vis his surroundings. She believes that painting has a strong potential as a narrative medium. She mainly depicts impressions, momentary expressions and manifestations of inner emotions.

You Hyeonkyeong has exhibited in the New Artist Exhibition Program of the Seoul Museum of Art in 2009; the same year, she won the Ha Dong-chul Award and made the Masters of the East list published by Art in Culture magazine. She has been selected as the Artist of the year by the OCI Museum in 2011, the Seoul Foundation for Art and Culture in 2012, and was one of the Young Korean Artists of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in 2013.
